COMMISSION ON MINISTRY
The Commission on the Ministry assists bishop with issues involving ordained clergy, including identifying those suited for ministry; guiding and caring for those engaged in the ordination process. Oversees training and continuing education for ordained and lay ministers.

Standing Committee Information

Standing committee members meet six to eight times per year. Some meetings are held via conference call and some meetings are held in person. Locations and days of meetings vary.

Travel expenses are reimbursed when requested.

From the Diocesan canons:

CANON 4 THE STANDING COMMITTEE

Section 1. DUTIES. The Standing Committee shall be the Bishop's Council of Advice pursuant to the Constitution, Canons and Convention of this Diocese and The Episcopal Church; if there is no Bishop able or authorized to act, the Standing Committee shall be the Ecclesiastical Authority.

Chancellor to the Bishop
Provides professional counsel and services requested by the Bishop. Chancellors are communicants in good standing also admitted to legal practice in Montana.
Appointed.

Diocesan Historiographer
The diocesan historiographer keeps track of the history of the diocese which may include updating the out-of-date book on the diocese and other projects.  This also includes historical pictures, journals, etc.

Ecumenical Officer
Acts as the bishop’s deputy regarding ecumenical as well as interfaith matters of local, diocesan and national concern.
