Companions in the way

The “Road to Emmaus” Icon by Sister Marie Paul OSB
of the Mount of Olives Monastery, Jerusalem (1990)

“Lord Jesus, stay with us…be our companion in the way, kindle our hearts, and awaken hope, that we may know you as you are revealed in Scripture and in the breaking of bread” (BCP 124).

Since the Church’s earliest days, followers of Jesus have been called ‘people of the way.’  Our identity springs out of the journey that we’re traveling together. We, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, encounter  bewilderment, confusion, and unexpected glimpses of God’s provision. This blog is meant to be one small way  that we can be companions to one another as we journey into the kingdom.  It is – of course – no substitute for face to face fellowship. When we can’t be together in person, I hope you’ll join me here.
