Candidates for Tenth Bishop

The Episcopal Diocese of Montana is pleased to announce its final slate for the Tenth Bishop of Montana.

The candidates are:

The Rev. Mary Caucutt, Rector of Christ Church, Cody, Wyoming

“My dream for the future of the Episcopal Church in Montana is to pair my gifts and talents with your gifts and talents and together follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit into God’s future of promise. Together, we will seek to hear Christ’s call to mission in our new context, over one hundred years after the original Missionary Diocese of Montana began; and with God’s help, we will transform our common life from one based in problem, fear, and scarcity, to one of possibility, gift, and abundance. An exciting journey lies ahead for you, one I would be honored to share. “

The Rev. Dr. Nina Ranadive Pooley, Rector of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Yarmouth, Maine

“My goals for the Diocese of Montana begin with being a bishop who is fully present and actively involved in the ministry of parishes, as we build community across the distance through communication and pastoral relationships, raise up the gifts of the community, and hold fast to the whole by remembering that we are all in this together, one diocese = one church with several branch locations, all serving faithfully together.

Our diocesan systems would serve the mission and ministry of the parishes by being easy to access, transparent, and equitable, providing support for clergy and laity; through clear and easy lines of communication and building relationships within and beyond the diocese, we would form networks, collaborations and creative approaches to work, mission, and ministry.

Working together, listening to God and one another, we would face the challenges and joys of being the Church in the 21st century with faith and courage, pioneers of what is next, on behalf of The Episcopal Church.”

The Rev. Marty Stebbins, Rector, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Wilson, North Carolina

“My goal for the Episcopal Diocese of Montana is that we continue to be a strong voice in every community for the hope, love and reconciliation of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I envision this happening by empowering lay leadership, encouraging the growth of our diaconate, and nurturing joyous worship of God, led by priests who love Christ and the people to whom they are called to serve.”
